Orange County Adult Soccer League Players Give Back to the Community
2013 Benefit Tournament
February 23, 2013, Eight teams from OCASL met at Old Chapel Hill Road Park in Durham for our winter benefit tournament. Two worthwhile charities were supported by player fees and a silent auction. Help to Impact Lives (http://www.htil.org) provides shoes, equipment, soccer training and fun for children in Jamaica. They encourage the donation of shoes that can be worn on the pitch and in the classroom. Chapel Hill's Community Empowerment Fund (http://www.communityempowermentfund.org) helps struggling people get their feet under them. They provide training, banking, education and support to help people help themselves.
The highlight of the silent auction was a soccer jersey signed by Pele and donated for the cause by Eurosport (http://www.soccer.com).

2013 Winter Blast Benefit Tournament
On December 28, 2013, OCASL players helped inaugurate the new artificial turf fields at Cedar Falls Park in Chapel Hill. The Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation department was kind enough to loan us the fields for free so that additional money could be donated to Chapel Hill's Community Empowerment Fund (http://www.communityempowermentfund.org). Eight teams competed and over $750 was raised in donations to support a worthy cause.
